How we run our competitions
Ruby Competitions Ltd operates in line with the Voluntary Code of Good Practice for Prize Draw Operators, published by the Department for Culture, Media and Sport in November 2025.
Prize competitions in the UK are not licensed by the Gambling Commission, because a genuine free entry route is offered. In place of a licence, the government published a voluntary code setting shared standards for player protection, transparency and accountability. We have chosen to run to that standard. This page sets out what that means for you in practice, so you can hold us to it.
What the Code sets out to do
Protect players
Keep entry to over-18s, give people real control over what they spend, and act on signs of harm.
Be transparent
Publish the rules, the odds and the draw method, and make the free entry route easy to find and use.
Stay accountable
Deliver the prize advertised, answer complaints within set timescales, and offer independent escalation.
Our commitments in practice
Age and eligibility
- Entry is restricted to over-18s across every competition we run, with no exceptions.
- Date of birth is required when you open an account, and on every postal entry.
- Every winner must provide valid photographic ID before a prize is released or paid out.
- We do not target or market to under-18s on any channel.
Spending and control
- We do not accept credit cards at all. Debit cards and mobile wallets only, on every competition including instant wins.
- You can set your own daily, weekly or monthly spend limits. Increases carry a one-week cooling-off period; reductions take effect straight away.
- You can lock your account for anything from one day to one year, or close it permanently.
- All marketing is switched off the moment you self-exclude.
Fair and open draws
- Every draw uses the Certified TrueNorth True RNG method, on live draws and Autodraws alike.
- Paid and free postal entries go into the same draw with an equal chance per entry.
- Entry lists are publicly viewable before every draw.
- No competition has ever run for less than three weeks, so nobody is rushed into entering.
- We award the prize as advertised. We never downgrade a prize because entry numbers were low.
- Instant win competitions are never the majority of what we have running.
Honest promotion
- All our marketing is produced in-house. We use no affiliates and pay no promoters or influencers.
- Entry price, maximum entries and closing date are shown on every competition page before you pay.
- The free postal entry route is set out in full in our Terms and is open on every competition.
If something goes wrong
- We acknowledge every complaint within 2 working days.
- We give a full written response within 10 working days of that acknowledgement.
- If you are still unhappy, you can escalate to an independent body at no cost to you.
Play safe
Competitions should stay fun. If entering has stopped feeling that way, free and confidential support is available, and you can set limits or close your account with us at any time.
